Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI)<\/a> announced the outcome of the vote yesterday during its annual Congress currently being held in Kigali, Rwanda, awarding the event to the Trentino region.<\/p>\n\n\n\nFollowing the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games next year and the Youth Olympic Games in 2028, Trentino is preparing to host another major international sporting event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"This is a result that rewards Trentino\u2019s well-proven ability to host high-profile, internationally recognized events,<\/em>\u201d commented Maurizio Fugatti, President of the Autonomous Province of Trento<\/strong>. \u201cNot least the cross-country skiing and ski jumping competitions during the Milan\u2013Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. We are extremely proud that the UCI has entrusted us with the organization of the UCI Cycling World Championships in 2031.<\/em>\"<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe Championships coming to Trentino in six years will be \u201csuper\u201d in every sense: over two weeks, all the main cycling disciplines will be held together<\/strong> \u2013 Road (Road Race and Time Trial), Track, Mountain Bike (Cross-country, Downhill, Marathon), Gravel, BMX (Racing, Freestyle Flatland, Freestyle Park), Trial, Enduro, Granfondo, Indoor Cycling (Artistic & Cycle Ball), Cycling Esports, Pump Track, and Bike Polo.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe numbers are set to be unprecedented: over 10,000 athletes competing in 20 disciplines with more than 200 rainbow jerseys up for grabs, across Elite, Junior, Para-cycling, and Masters categories. A globally relevant media event, with more than 700 accredited journalists, unmatched in scale and diversity, it will require a significant organizational effort and offer an extraordinary opportunity for international visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"As with the Olympic and Paralympic Games<\/em>,\u201d continued President Fugatti, \u201cthe UCI World Championships will demand a major organizational effort: over two weeks, we will welcome the world\u2019s best cyclists in all major disciplines. We can already guarantee that once again, Trentino will rise to the occasion and demonstrate the same competence and organizational capability it has shown in many previous sporting events hosted in our region.

Trentino, together with Veneto and the velodrome being built in Spresiano, confirms itself as a land of sport and, above all, of cycling \u2014 with all the necessary elements to deliver a spectacular rainbow event, from both a technical and emotional perspective.
The next six years will be a shared journey with the Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino Marketing, the municipalities involved, and the Italian Cycling Federation. We aim to enrich the sporting program with many complementary elements that will make this global cycling showcase truly unforgettable.
The Government will also contribute to ensuring a lasting legacy on three fronts: promoting cycling in schools, developing infrastructure for the various cycling disciplines, and enhancing safety for all cyclists, whether competitive or recreational.
