14 September 2024With tonight’s exciting and spectacular Parade of National Athletes, the UCI MTB Enduro & E-Enduro World Championships have officially begun. Ten years after the international debut of the discipline, the emotion of seeing this world-class event come to life is palpable, and in everyone’s eyes, you can sense the awareness of being part of a memorable moment for the world of enduro.
This morning in Val di Fassa, Trentino, the day began very early with an inspection, during which the Organizing Committee and the UCI Technical Sports Commission assessed the conditions of the upper part of the course, following yesterday’s snowfall and winds at higher altitudes. A technical meeting followed, where decisions were made to modify the course and the schedule for Saturday’s official practice sessions.
Watch the video to see the footage from today and hear what the Event Manager Williamo Basilico and the “Pope of Enduro”, as well as race commentator, Enrico Guala has to say.
“Today we are monitoring the snow and wind conditions at higher altitudes. The first option is to move to plan C, but we are also considering plan D, which is more feasible and less demanding in terms of human resources, while still ensuring a world-class championship. .” William Basilico
“A race that challenges enduro at every level: from the organizers to the riders, the teams, and the marshals. The essence of the discipline is here, in Val di Fassa, with an unpredictable element like the weather, which disrupts plans and strategies, bringing out the true values of the athletes: improvisation, adaptation, and consistency. This will be an exceptional World Championship.“ Enrico Guala.
