Day 1 of the 2026 UCI Enduro World Cup Val di Fassa Trentino ends with great news for Italy. After three demanding special stages, Tuscany’s Tommaso Calonaci of Ottoracing Technology Team sits at the top of the Elite standings.
The opening day immediately put the riders to the test with a fully pedal-powered loop: 23.3 km in total, 1,380 metres of climbing on the transfers, three special stages totalling 5.3 km of timed racing and 877 metres of descending on the specials.
Calonaci holds a three-second advantage over French rider Alex Rudeau after more than 13 minutes of racing. Rudeau claimed the first-ever UCI Enduro World Championship title here in Val di Fassa back in 2024.
Another strong performance came from Italian rider Tommaso Francardo of the Abetone Gravity Team, who sits fifth overall, just seven seconds behind the leader.
In the women’s race, South Tyrol’s Nadine Ellecosta, Francardo’s teammate, delivered another impressive ride and is currently fourth, only 8.3 seconds away from the podium, currently occupied by Britain’s Ella Conolly.
However, this is only the first of two race days. These standings don’t tell the whole story yet, but they certainly show the speed, form and determination of the Italian riders heading into tomorrow’s decisive finale.
Tomorrow, the Day 2 showdown features four more special stages before the winners of the Val di Fassa round are crowned.
