Grit and Glory: the enduro docuseries premieres on Eurosport and discovery+ – featuring a special episode set in Val di Fassa
8 October 2025Mountain biking in Trentino keeps growing – and so do we.
We’re proud and excited to be part of the UCI Cycling World Championships 2031, officially awarded to Trentino.
It’s a huge milestone that rewards more than a decade of work, built with passion, vision, and dedication.
In 2024 we hosted the first-ever UCI Enduro World Championship, in 2025 we celebrated 10 years of high-level enduro events in Val di Fassa, and in 2026 we’ll once again welcome the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.
Yes, 2031 is still far away, but having a shared goal with Trentino and many other top destinations in the region gives us the energy to keep pushing forward.

Trentino to Host the UCI Cycling World Championships 2031
In 2031, the UCI Cycling World Championships will take place in Trentino. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announced the outcome of the vote yesterday during its annual Congress currently being held in Kigali, Rwanda, awarding the event to the Trentino region.
Following the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games next year and the Youth Olympic Games in 2028, Trentino is preparing to host another major international sporting event.
“This is a result that rewards Trentino’s well-proven ability to host high-profile, internationally recognized events,” commented Maurizio Fugatti, President of the Autonomous Province of Trento. “Not least the cross-country skiing and ski jumping competitions during the Milan–Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. We are extremely proud that the UCI has entrusted us with the organization of the UCI Cycling World Championships in 2031.”
The Championships coming to Trentino in six years will be “super” in every sense: over two weeks, all the main cycling disciplines will be held together – Road (Road Race and Time Trial), Track, Mountain Bike (Cross-country, Downhill, Marathon), Gravel, BMX (Racing, Freestyle Flatland, Freestyle Park), Trial, Enduro, Granfondo, Indoor Cycling (Artistic & Cycle Ball), Cycling Esports, Pump Track, and Bike Polo.
The numbers are set to be unprecedented: over 10,000 athletes competing in 20 disciplines with more than 200 rainbow jerseys up for grabs, across Elite, Junior, Para-cycling, and Masters categories. A globally relevant media event, with more than 700 accredited journalists, unmatched in scale and diversity, it will require a significant organizational effort and offer an extraordinary opportunity for international visibility.
“As with the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” continued President Fugatti, “the UCI World Championships will demand a major organizational effort: over two weeks, we will welcome the world’s best cyclists in all major disciplines. We can already guarantee that once again, Trentino will rise to the occasion and demonstrate the same competence and organizational capability it has shown in many previous sporting events hosted in our region.
We thank the Italian Government and Minister for Sport Andrea Abodi, CONI, CIP, the Italian Cycling Federation, Trentino Marketing, and all those who contributed to reaching this important milestone that will bring further prestige to Trentino and to Italy as a whole.”
Andrea Abodi, Minister for Sport and Youth, declared:
“The awarding of this ‘championship of championships’ to Italy in 2031 is another remarkable international recognition of our ability to present a content-rich and opportunity-driven bid — one that blends an excellent project with the credibility of a strong institutional team that has worked together toward a shared goal over time.
Trentino, together with Veneto and the velodrome being built in Spresiano, confirms itself as a land of sport and, above all, of cycling — with all the necessary elements to deliver a spectacular rainbow event, from both a technical and emotional perspective.
The next six years will be a shared journey with the Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino Marketing, the municipalities involved, and the Italian Cycling Federation. We aim to enrich the sporting program with many complementary elements that will make this global cycling showcase truly unforgettable.
The Government will also contribute to ensuring a lasting legacy on three fronts: promoting cycling in schools, developing infrastructure for the various cycling disciplines, and enhancing safety for all cyclists, whether competitive or recreational.
I wish everyone the best of luck for this new and exciting chapter in Italian sport and extend my congratulations to President Fugatti and his team for achieving this prestigious goal. I also thank UCI President David Lappartient for the trust placed in us.”
Luciano Buonfiglio, President of CONI, commented:
“With great pride and satisfaction, I welcome the news that the UCI Cycling World Championships 2031 have been awarded to Trentino. Today, a unique territory has been recognized, and once again, Italy’s capacity to organize major sporting events has been confirmed.
This success is the result of outstanding teamwork between institutions, the Federation, and local stakeholders. This ‘Super Championship,’ which unites all cycling disciplines, will offer an extraordinary showcase for our country and its sporting and cultural heritage, fueling the passion Italians have always had for two-wheeled sports.”
David Lappartient, President of the UCI, stated:
“After the incredible success of the inaugural edition in 2023 and as we prepare for an even bigger event in Haute-Savoie, France in 2027, I am pleased to announce that Trentino will host the 2031 UCI Cycling World Championships.
With even more UCI World Championship events and Trentino’s proven expertise in organizing top-level international events, we can expect a world-class celebration that will highlight the diversity and beauty of cycling and its many disciplines.”
Cordiano Dagnoni, President of the Italian Cycling Federation, added:
“We are especially pleased with the awarding of the 2031 Super World Championships to Trentino. It rewards a region that has proven over the years to be capable of successfully hosting every cycling discipline, with excellent participation.
The only missing piece is the new velodrome, which the Federation is developing together with the UCI — a venue worthy of hosting a world-class track cycling event.
As a country and as a federation, this assignment makes us very proud. It confirms our international reputation as reliable organizers and underlines the high standards we uphold — now recognized worldwide.”
Fausto Lorenz, President of APT Val di Fassa, concluded:
“We are honored and proud to receive the news that the UCI Cycling World Championships 2031 have been awarded to Trentino — and therefore to Val di Fassa as well.
This is a major recognition for the entire provincial region. Our valley, known for its sporting spirit, resilience, passion, and hospitality, is proud to contribute to the organization of an event of such prestige.
We are eager to meet the highest standards in terms of infrastructure and organization that this extraordinary event will require.”
